Shikoku 88 Pilgrimage

We are delighted to present our new self-guided tour starting in April 2016! With Shikoku 88 Pilgrimage tour you can follow in the footsteps of revered monk Kobo Daishi and discover the best of the 88 temple Shikoku pilgrimage route.

This sacred journey is one of the iconic pilgrimage routes, and has attracted pilgrims (known as O-henro) for over 12 centuries, drawn not only by the spiritual significance of the route, but also the incredible hiking, the breath-taking scenery, soothing hot springs, and delicious regional cuisine. The island’s generous people have assisted pilgrims in their travels for many years with the tradition of O-settai, providing offerings of food or sweets to those dressed in the attire of the pilgrim.

Choose from our different itineraries focused on the pilgrimage route in Ehime, Tokushima, and Kagawa Prefectures. The 4-day, 5-day, and 6-day itineraries are ideal for combining with a more extensive visit to Japan or with our other self-guided walking tours. If you prefer to focus on Shikoku and the pilgrimage route, we recommend our 8-day or 10 day itineraries.
